The
seminar was held on the theme of 'Executive Education: Accelerating
careers with education'. Mr Arun Maira, Chairman, Boston Consulting
Group delivered the keynote speech, addressing working executives from
different fields. The seminar was supported by Confederation of Indian
Industry (CII).
Prof Nilanjan Sen,
Director, Nanyang Executive MBA Program, Singapore; Mr K S Karthik,
CEO, 24 X 7 Learning; Mr V K Menon, Indian School of Business,
Hyderabad; Dr A K Biswas, IMT Center for Distance Learning; Mr Uday
Singh, Executive VP, NIIT Imperia and Mr P M Maheshwari, Director,
North & West India, U21 Global shared their views on executive
education.
The seminar focused on
issues like: Why is there is an urgent need to learn new skills for
career acceleration; What is executive education and how can it help in
career progression; How do HR heads look at various Executive Education
programmes; What are various programme options like full time Executive
MBA, eLearning and distance learning Executive programmes.
In
his keynote address on the topic of 'Executive Leadership in the new
World', Mr Maira said, "If India has to lead the world in the 21st
century, it needs leaders. Leadership is about self belief and
conviction. Leaders dare to walk alone. Executive education and
training helps executives develop into leaders that dare."
Addressing
the seminar, Prof Nilanjan Sen said, "There is a need to enhance the
executive skill sets through Executive Education for the growth of the
corporate sector. Executive Education programmes like we offer at
Nanyang Business School are very helpful for working executives." Prof
Sen shared highlights of Nanyang Executive Education programmes like
EMBA, AMP and Nanyang Fellow Programme.
Talking
about the inception of NIIT Imperia, Mr Singh said, "Indian executives
need constant training and education. We thought how can education make
a difference to a large number of existing workforce and how do we make
it possible for a large number to access management education without
leaving their job. This thought led us to build NIIT Imperia which
offers various programmes in collaboration of leading B-schools like
IIMs, IIFT and IMT Ghaziabad."
ISB's
Mr Menon emphasized on the massive demand – supply gap between
employers and employees in corporate sector. He said, "There is huge
demand of talented workforce worldwide. MBA education gives you diverse
knowledge on different subjects. ISB graduates, who enter the course
after some work experience, are being wooed by corporates from across
the world."
KS Kartik, said, "It is
very evident that Indian executives can grow a lot faster with right
training and education. Indian corporate sector is serious about
training their executives too. Our company 24 x 7 learning has
establishes a lot of corporate universities in India. We have also
launched our own management course for executives in tie-up with IMT's
Center for Distance Learning."
On the
